Virtual Hand Studio

In drawing, perhaps there are no more further confusion and provided with the least material and understanding for study than is the drawing of the human hand. Much of these trouble is cause by the lack of good material, information and know how that could be found anywhere.

The hand is the most pliable and flexible part of the whole human anatomy. Being able to resume any shape and form within reasonable size and weight effortlessly. The hands receives complex signals and instructions from the brain instinctively. The adjustment to almost unlimited purposes of the hand is the most wonderful mechanism we know. It's a perfection as an instrument. Taking this for granted, we have never actually paused to study and try to understand the inner workings of the hand . Little has been written about it.

Hand gesture plays a very important role in communication. It conveys meanings, feelings and emotions. Body language would be meaningless if a good hand gesture is not present. A wave of the hand, a clench of the fist, all this will be meaningless if you could not pose and draw them well.

You could study and understand your own hands and even use them as a model for your sculptures and drawings, but due to the limited movement of the human arm you could only observe so much of your own hand.
Paying someone to pose for you?. That would be a waste of money when you have 2 good hands of your own. Getting a wooden posable hand? Yeah if you could find one. Virtual Hand Studio(VHS) is made with all these in mind. Artist, sculptors, modelers would find VHS very handy and useful.

Virtual Hand Studio is loaded with close to 200 pre animated hand gestures. Conveniently categorized in various categories. Clicking on each category reveals an interesting collection of dynamic poses. Hitting on the forward and backward button will instantly change and load into the next gesture. Dragging and sliding on the animation tab will enable the animated hand gesture to change from the relaxed pose to the selected gesture.

It's basically a virtual hand at your disposal. Being able to control the free orbiting camera, you could study and analyze any hand gestures effortlessly from all possible angles. VHS is unable to export to a 3rd party application like 3D Studio Max, Maya etc. We do hope in future versions and development of VHS this feature will be included. VHS is also lacking in texture. Apart from the interesting Toon Shading the hand is just a normal gray display. Although you could adjust the colour of the skin, what it lacks is skin texture.

Virtual Hand Studio is a very innovative and unique piece of software written mainly for artists. First of it's kind. Many users would think the amount of hand gestures is limited, I personally feel the current close to 200 is more then enough.
